Week 11 - Visual Culture / Visual Literacy

This week on Art 100, we learned there are 4 types of literacy. The 4 types of literacy are text literacy, visual literacy, network literacy, and one that Glenn made up education literacy. I do not believe the education literacy is going to fail. However, I do believe it might improve because of the amount of people using computers and technology. We are in the generation of technology and computers are smarter than most of human beings. This could be a problem because their would not be any "teachers". Computers will teach in the future and we will learn from them. We also saw some clips of The Reader which is about a women who rather admits she murdered someone, but does not want to admits she cannot read or write. I'm pretty sure this movie's setting was a long time ago because most people can now read and write. Back then people were less educated and I do not think people should be ashamed back then. On the other hand, today I believe it is ashamed if you cannot read or write. With new technology, there is no reason why people cannot read or write. We also saw some commercial and it was very funny and I thought it was interesting. Lastly, we saw more presentation. It was better this time, however this time were shorter presentations.
